The beautiful fir two-story Siemens House was erected in 1918 on the 80 acres at the northeast corner of Winkler. The house was built and shipped from B.C. in a box car — complete with electrical hook-ups that would not be utilized until power became available in 1948.
Originally built by Frank Dyck for Cornelius and Maria Winters, the house was occupied by the couple and their 13 children until it was sold to John and Elly Siemens in 1949. The Siemenses raised their five children in the house and lived there until 1997, when son Edwin and his wife Deb took over the property and raised their daughter.
In 2020, Edwin and Deb sold the house to the PTM for five dollars and generously paid the $15,000 for the move to the museum grounds. Thanks to Triple E and the Winkler Community Foundation, a foundation was poured and the building set up.
